Karate
Our primary style of karate is called Wado-Ryu. This form focuses on open-hand self-defense techniques while promoting discipline and effective self-protection. We believe that discipline is one of the most important aspects of our karate classes. From the very beginning, children are taught to line up, follow instructions, and control both their emotions and techniques.
In our classes, students learn that karate should never be used to harm others, either at school or outside of it. Building a child's character is a central focus of our training programs. Young students quickly learn to respect one another within and beyond the dojo. We emphasize that without respect in class, a karate student could become a danger to themselves and others.
The respect they cultivate should extend beyond the dojo into their everyday lives. Our students understand that karate should only be used for self-protection. The philosophy of karate teaches that the first move is always a defensive one, not an offensive attack. Through our self-defense training, students learn to be aware of their surroundings, evade potential violent situations, and manage confrontations should they arise.
